Isaac Resource Excellence Precinct Gains Strong Community and Industry Support at Moranbah Event

The event marked an important milestone in the development of IREP, providing an opportunity to share the vision, intent and next steps for the proposed precinct while inviting feedback and discussion from those who will help shape its future.

IREP is currently progressing through its Business Development phase, supported by funding from the Local Business Fund (LBF). This 12-month foundational stage focuses on strengthening partnerships, establishing governance frameworks, engaging stakeholders and co-designing early pilot initiatives that will position the precinct for long-term success.

IREP is being developed as a place-based initiative designed to support innovation, workforce development and long-term economic diversification across the Isaac region. The project builds on RCOE’s track record of delivering collaborative training and industry-led initiatives and aims to position Moranbah and the broader region as leaders in resource innovation and future-focused skills development.

Attendees heard about the strategic objectives guiding this foundational phase, including building strong stakeholder alignment, activating pilot programs and securing diversified funding to ensure long-term sustainability. The strong turnout and active discussion on the night reinforced the region’s interest in ensuring the precinct delivers meaningful, locally informed outcomes.

RCOE CEO Steven Boxall said the event highlighted the importance of collaboration in shaping the next chapter for the Isaac region.

“IREP is about working together to build on the region’s strengths — supporting workforce capability, industry innovation and long-term regional resilience,” Mr Boxall said.

“The level of engagement and the conversations held on the night demonstrate a genuine appetite to be part of shaping what comes next.”

In addition to the evening presentation, RCOE hosted a drop-in session, allowing community members and industry representatives to speak directly with the RCOE team, ask questions and share insights in a more informal setting.

The feedback received from both sessions will help inform the next steps as IREP continues through its LBF-supported Business Development phase, laying the groundwork for future infrastructure, program expansion and long-term operational delivery.

RCOE extends its thanks to everyone who attended, contributed to discussions and continues to support the vision for IREP. Ongoing engagement opportunities will be made available as the project evolves.
