Smart METS is a breakfast event designed to show METS businesses how geospatial and Earth observation technologies are already driving efficiency, reducing risk, and opening new opportunities. Featuring Gavin Kennedy from FrontierSI, this event offers practical, real-world insights for businesses across the Greater Whitsunday region.

Gavin Kennedy has been at the forefront of advancing Earth observation and geospatial innovation in Australia. 

As Coordinator of the Queensland Earth Observation Hub under SmartSat CRC and through his leadership role at FrontierSI, Gavin has: 

  • Led complex, multi-stakeholder projects spanning research, industry, and government 

  • Driven innovation across Earth observation, agricultural intelligence, and AI for data-rich sectors 

  • Built collaboration networks that connect SMEs, universities, and government agencies 

With expertise in strategy, applied research translation, and industry-ready geospatial solutions, Gavin will share how cutting-edge technologies are moving from proof-of-concept to real-world impact for the METS sector.

The Welding Supervisor course is a face-to-face course run over three, one-week modules by Weld Australia. This course will be led by our experienced welding technology trainer Joe Sandor and Bailey Greathead. Joe and Bailey hold both the AS2214 and AS1796 Welding supervisor qualifications along with Welding Inspection and AS1796 Welding certificates 1 through to 9.
