The Resources Centre of Excellence (RCOE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Sharam as Resources Innovation & Partnerships Manager, marking an important milestone in the next phase of RCOE’s growth and delivery agenda.

Jason brings a wealth of experience in the resources and METS (Mining Equipment, Technology and Services) sectors, with a strong track record in driving cross-sector collaboration and delivering commercially relevant innovation.  His appointment will play a pivotal role in accelerating RCOE’s impact across critical initiatives such as circular economy solutions, workforce innovation, and digital transformation in mining.

“Jason’s appointment signals the next chapter of focused delivery across the innovation platform we’ve designed and built” said Steven Boxall, CEO of RCOE.

“Over the last few years, we’ve established a strong foundation—bringing together industry, research, and government to create a hub for practical problem-solving. Now it’s about scaling impact, and Jason brings the leadership and experience to take that forward.”

As the Resources Innovation & Partnerships Manager, Jason will lead the identification and development of collaborative research projects, engaging OEMs, academic institutions, private industry, and engineering groups to tackle real-world industry challenges—from productivity and sustainability to skills and safety.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jason to the team. His practical knowledge of the sector, paired with his passion for innovation, makes him the ideal person to lead this next phase,” Boxall said.

“He’ll be working closely with stakeholders across the Bowen Basin and beyond to deliver projects that are not just interesting—but actionable, scalable, and of real value to industry.”

Based in Mackay, Jason’s role reinforces RCOE’s commitment to regional capability-building while ensuring global relevance. His appointment follows a competitive recruitment process and aligns with RCOE’s strategic priorities for 2025 and beyond.

Jason will commence his new role with the RCOE on Tuesday 3rd June, 2025.
