Immersive Emergency Response Experience for Junior Doctors

The RCOE partnered with Queensland Mines Rescue Service, Australia – Anglo American, James Cook University, Australian Medical Association Queensland and Mackay Base Hospital to deliver an immersive emergency response experience for more than 100 junior doctors and 30 support staff. Participants responded to realistic emergency scenarios within the underground simulator before transitioning patients into clinical treatment areas.

The program showcased the unique capability of the RCOE as a multidisciplinary training facility while strengthening collaboration between the resources and health sectors. It also provided an opportunity to promote Mackay as an innovative regional centre and future destination for medical professionals.
