RCOE opens the door for industry to be part of the Isaac Resources Excellence Precinct in Moranbah
The Resources Centre of Excellence (RCOE) has launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) inviting businesses, industry, education and training providers, researchers and other organisations to explore how they can connect with and become part of the Isaac Resources Excellence Precinct (IREP) in Moranbah.
IREP represents Stage 3 in the evolution of RCOE, broadening the RCOE ecosystem from its original Mackay facility and Stage 2 Future Industries Hub and Flexi Lab into the heart of the Bowen Basin.
The EOI provides six pathways for organisations to become involved in the precinct, ranging from flexible and casual use through to a permanent presence and longer-term strategic collaboration.
Opportunities include Flexible Workspace Access Passes; Meeting and Room Hire; Tenancy and Co-location; Training, Research and Development; Events and Demonstrations; and Strategic Partnerships.
RCOE CEO Steven Boxall said the EOI was about starting conversations with organisations now, as IREP moves closer to activation.
“Over almost six years of operating the Resources Centre of Excellence, we have seen what can happen when industry, education, research, government and community are given the right environment to connect and collaborate,” Mr Boxall said.
“That model has continued to evolve through the Future Industries Hub and Flexi Lab, and IREP gives us the opportunity to take the next step by bringing that ecosystem directly into the Isaac region.”
“We want businesses and organisations to look at IREP and think about what it could enable for them. That might be somewhere to work when they are in Moranbah, a regional office, somewhere to train their workforce, an opportunity to undertake research or demonstrate technology, a place to bring industry together, or a longer-term partnership.”
“Importantly, we don't expect every opportunity to fit neatly into a category. Some of the strongest collaborations we have developed at RCOE have started with a conversation, and that is exactly what this EOI is designed to encourage.”
IREP is being developed as more than a facility. It will provide a platform for industry collaboration, workforce development, research, technology, innovation and regional opportunity, while creating stronger connections between the organisations operating across the Bowen Basin and the communities that support them.
IREP Lunch & Learn sessions
To support the EOI launch, RCOE will host a series of IREP Lunch & Learn sessions in Mackay, Moranbah and Brisbane, together with an online session.
The sessions will provide an opportunity to hear directly from RCOE about the vision for IREP, learn more about each of the EOI opportunities, ask questions and discuss how individual businesses and organisations could become involved.
Those with a specific idea, project or opportunity can also arrange a one-on-one discussion with RCOE CEO Steven Boxall or Kelly Portelli, Stakeholder Engagement & Projects.
